Staying safe with your money
Lakitsi never holds your money. Deposits and purchase prices go into the appointed conveyancer’s trust account (regulated by the Law Society). Lakitsi issues the reference and records the attorney’s confirmations and statements.
How a deposit held in trust works
1
Pay
Your deal room shows the trust account and a reference like LKT-DL002-DEP. Pay by EFT; upload the proof.
2
Held
The attorney confirms receipt in the deal room. The deposit stays refundable until bond and other conditions are met.
3
Released
On registration the attorney pays the seller and issues statements; both sides see the same ledger.
Red flags
- Anyone asking for a viewing fee or a “holding deposit” to a personal account or mobile money number.
- An “owner abroad” who can’t do a video viewing or won’t upload a title deed.
- A price far below the Lakitsi Estimate for the area.
- Swazi Nation Land described as “title deed” or “freehold”.
- Pressure to move off Lakitsi before verification. Never pay or sign on WhatsApp: offers, agreements and references live in your deal room.
What we do
- Every seller is ID-checked; offers are only possible on ID Verified listings.
- Title Verified appears only once a partner conveyancer records a Deeds Registry search (included in Plus and Premium).
- Addresses stay hidden until a viewing is confirmed.
- Report any listing with the flag icon. Two reports pause a listing automatically for review.
